It's strange that all his gear, including firearms, were still in the truck. It's not looking good with the weather turning/

Some people were wondering if it was suicide, but who takes their puppy with them to commit suicide? Others are wondering if it was murder, but usually they would at least take his valuables if not his guns.

About the only time I MIGHT leave my vehicle without my firearm is going to take a leak or a sh*t somewhere but it certainly wouldn't be far enough away that a K9 unit wouldn't be able to find me.

Maybe went to use the bathroom and bumped into a grizzly that dragged him away?

Shouldn't have closed the Grizzly season... start checking the scat for denim and a dog collar.

If it was a grizzly attack near the truck you'd think they would have found a sign of that. From my limited experience with GSAR, I'm going to guess he had some kind of medical episode and wondered off with the dog following. Hope they find them safe.

It is possible that he wanted to disappear... it's been done before... he just couldn't leave the dog.

If that area received 100 + mls of rain...any fresh or minute traces of anything evidential would likely be washed away.

Funny you mention that Hoyt...with all his personal stuff left behind, THAT was my feeble mind's first thought....makes one ponder soooo many different scenarios !

Here's a thought, what about his dog running off chasing a deer, owner chases after the dog trying to stop it, and getting lost?

From what I understand the firearm found in the truck was an extra. He’s believed to have a rifle with him. Hopefully he turns up somewhere
