Pigs don't stop growing until they're dead. My old neighbor kept his old favorite sow for many years after she was useful and his son finally hauled her away. He took her into the stock yards in Swift Current and sold her. She scaled just over 1600 lbs thats right 1600 lbs. They framed the paperwork after the sale and had it hung up for years.
 
^^^ this. In Saskatoon they frequented the "all you can drink from 4-6 pm for 5 dollars" bar.

Anyway I cannot fathom how big a 1600 lb pig would be. That guys rifle sure looks tiny.

Somebody may have mentioned this, but castrated boars grow far larger than regular ones. It's a common practice among outfitters in Hawaii to trap and castrate wild boars, then rerelease them for future hunting. Sounds likely to be the case here.

And man did the photo exaggerate the size of that thing, 500lbs is big, but not monstrous.
