Hello
Is one able to hunt and or shoot in the proximity of power lines?
I found a property and to the south is crown land but in the middle of the crown land there is a strip cleared going east and west and power lines run thru it. Good ? Bad? Does it matter ?
Appreciate the info

You ask some weird questions man..... Have you taken your hunting course yet?

Yes you can hunt around power lines..... Some of the best wolf and coyote hunting is to be had in the cleared cuts.....among other species.....

Be aware that where power lines cross private land, it's still private land, you can't go there without permission.

Lots of deer hunters do drives to force deer out on power lines. Deer will cross them when they are forced to, but if they can turn back, they will. We set up our guys inside the bush, and found our success went up.

Stand hunting, totally different. Expect deer to be on their guard in the open, but, a nice spot to hunt, due to the added range you can get here.

In Manitoba most right of ways are owned by Manitoba Hydro and are private property for which you need permision to hunt on.

The secret is the MB Hydro doesn't really give a fig as long as you don't damage their property but they do own there right of ways. I used to have an 1/8 of a section with 2 such right of ways carved out of the middle of them

I just wanted clarification, from my Research I was thinking yes. These power lands are on crown land ;) Ontario land atlas is my best friend

There are some parts of Algonquin Park where hunting is permitted. I had a moose camp on Little German Lake in Clyde Township for a bit. The hydro line that runs south west from Whitney through Clyde Township in the Park is one of those places where hunting is permitted.
