So I use a pair of my dad's Bosch and Lomb Legacy 10x50 for hunting but recently they have been called in to question as to whether all the deer I look are really doe's or if they (bino's) just don't have the quality optics to pull out the antlers on the buck for me to see at the distances I've been glassing some of the doe's. I'll spare you all the details but theypossibly cost me a buck a week back. Anyways I'm wondering what everyone here would recommend I start to take a look at for Hunting Binoculars in the $300-$400 range for the next season as I will not be able to get them before this seasons done (I can go higher if you think I'm not putting enough in to the optics but that's my ideal price range.)

I know I will have to try different pairs out to see if they fit me well as the Bosch & Lombs are not the best fit, heavy, and might not be as clear as I need them to be to spot the bucks in with the does at 500 yards and further out. I'm tired of seeing only Flat Tops when I go out and glass the clear cuts and would like to change that but need something that is relatively light weight, tough and durable, water resistant (water proof) and has the lens coatings (sure I'm missing stuff as I'm not much of an optics guy but I need some good optics and I have lots of years of experience here to call on) so PLEASE help

Just to any of you who will say 'Focus' the binoculars I have done that and even used some of my moms nail polish to mark where to put it so I can always get it back in seconds in case it gets moved off of focus for me by someone like my dad who also has it marked for himself in a different color. He's an optics guy but more for Astronomy so he's not to sure what I'll need.

Thanks in advance for your help. I will be getting these before I go on my big hunt next year up north with Mr. Friendly and some cousins.

Cheers CK.

When I was shopping a few years back, the tech info had me leaning towards Leupold Pinnacles or the Nikon Monrach's. When I got my hands on both at the outdoor show at Tradex, it was the Nikons all the way.

Some will berate their warranty service, but the service I had on my Nikon Egrets has been very good.

Vortex 12X50 Vultures are awesome! Grouse River has 'em on for $150-$180 once in a while. $350 reg price.

I bought the Leupold Mesa Porro Prism 8x42mm Binoculars from Cabela's in the US on line for $149.00 They were $329.00 at Cabela's in Canada. They were shipped to my door in less than a week. I like them! You can get them in black or camo.

Classic porro prism styling with advanced features and outstanding optics. Multi-coated lenses optimizes light transmission and tough Advantage Timber camo rubber armour adds waterproof protection and improves grip in wet weather. Limited Lifetime Warranty. Close Focus: 29.5’, FOV 288’@1000 yds., Weight: 32.3 oz.

You are in BC, so they are most likely ALL flat-tops! :p:p:p

Half joking / half serious as I have talked with friends there this year who say they are seeing no bucks whatsoever.

Those old B&L's were pretty good glass in their day. The Nikons and Leupolds are pretty good for the price.

There are lots of bucks in BC, but they are running a bit late this year, there hasn't been a whitetail rut yet.

I am a fan of leupolds, I friend of mine suggested Lecia and swarvosky (spelling).
