Is any one having the same problem we are having , our insurance company just dropped us flat said that they are not going to cover us any more and that is that. We have shopped around and it looks like that non of them will. Hell we are not looking for much just some fire and liability .
We are in Central Ontario and have had the same company now for almost 20 yrs. So whats up with this

For the most part. the only reason insurace companies drop you like that is because there is a high likelyhood of them having to pay out on a claim with you, so your too high a risk.

What kind of insurance are you talking about??

I have a rider on my home insurance that covers me and my sons when we are "camping".

We had a fire in moose camp last year, I claimed around $6k and my rates didn't even go up.

I deal with TD Insurance.

Our incorporated hunt club has a camp that had only liability insurance. We are in a remote area and being sued was all we were worried about. For some reason, the rates doubled or tripled, without us ever making a claim. We ended up dropping the insurance because of the outrageous cost. Most of our money was spent on insurance premiums. We now have waivers that any guests of the club need to sign before going north. Sad, but necessary.

Adrian the 24th of September is the annual Ontario hunt camps association convention at the highwayman inn just off Hwy11 in Orillia and one of the seminars is regarding hunt camp insurance. These are a good group of guys dedicated to protecting huntcamps in Ontario the number is 705-887-2341 and the website is www.ohca.ca They are based out of Fenelon Falls. I would try them they be able to help
Best regards

The company we had been with for several years upped our rates a couple of years ago. I went to my own carrier (Cooperators) and they picked it up for a reasonable rate.
