Hi, I was at Giant Tiger today  Saw a reversible parka and pants, one side camo, the other blaze orange. Was made by Canada Ducks Unlimited. Do they have a good reputation for hunting gear? Felt comfy enough, winter jacket kind of thickness, just don't know if it was good for the middle of winter, and I never bought camo hunting gear before since I am relatively new to firearms world(about 1 year), and looking to go for my first hunt next fall if it's not for the present one. Parka was 80$ and pants were 60$. Just don't know if this brand good or not. I need something comfortable enough to spend days at the shooting range, and probably gonna be range officer soon at an exterior range.

Any input on this would be appreciated, thanks :D

Pretty sure Bass Pro stocks Ducks unlimited clothing but I am not sure if its different than the Canada Ducks Unlimited branded stuff you saw. I picked up a pair of DU water fowling gloves from BPS a few years ago, they are my all-purpose fall hunting gloves and have seen a fair bit of use and are standing up well.

You shouldn't buy cheap hunting clothes at Giant Tiger. All the boys with really expensive kit will laugh at you and call you names in an attempt to embarrass you and make you feel guilty.;)

I have a DU fleece jacket I got for joining DU. While it's just a regular wear jacket, I'm happy with it. I've looked at the DU stuff, not close enough to buy as it wasn't needed. However, I've come to find that my old faithful jacket has enough holes to be replaced and Canadian Tire doesn't carry them anymore. (I'm sure you know the ones, green/blaze reversible, that likely everyone has had at one time). Anywho, I will be taking a closer look at the DU stuff this year as I need a "light duty" hunting jacket.

Thanks guys:) Seems I wont be hunting this year, so I will keep an eye open for specials at the end of hunting season, saw a nice Browning XPO Big Game 4 in 1 parka, now I want it :p

So my next question is, around when are the clearance specials starting for hunting clothes?

And a last one, are military surplus winter gear ok for hunting?

Thanks!

GT DU socks didn't last, but,
I bought 2 GT Du vests, with lots of pockets, end of last season.
35 bucks each, regular price, for $15 each. Good value for that price.
