Ive recently takin up predator hunting and I am wondering if there are any tips or tricks to hunting coyotes in these areas. I'm wearing full camo have a decent call and am sitting back in the brush. Any tips would help. Thanks.

I've never gone out with the specific intention of hunting yotes, but I would say cover your scent as best you can. Be cautious of the wind direction and where you walk.
I was hunting turkey in the crown land that borders my property and walked down the trail i'd be sitting on to make sure there were no decoys already in the neighbouring feild. The long and the short of it is when a coyote came in at first light to my hen calls (which was kind of upsetting because apparantly my hen calls sound like a dying bird) the yote stopped dead to sniff out where i had walked 45 minutes before and busted me. I would have had to turn my barrel 45 degrees to take a shot and made it about a quarter of the turn before he was gone like a flash through the bush.

Well I hunt yotes south of Stayner (NewLowell, Creeemore area) and have had lots of success. What I find is that it is a different game from the Wild TV western hunts. Coyotes here in the wooded areas do not come running from hundreds of yards to the caller.

The whole game seems different. 100 yards max from the down wind side of the woods. If the wind is wrong save your walk because they are all ready running the other way. Keep the decoy with in 40 yards of you and your caller close to the decoy. Start off soft maybe hand calls and work the volume up to max. I have found Loud is the best with the woods and hill areas that you will be hunting.

Dont give up after the first 12 sets that are un successfull because its all learning until you get the trick of it. I'm still learning myself as every hunt is different but the 13 kills I had last winter was a lot of fun and I am hooked bigtime on predator hunting.

O and please lets hunt different properties because Coyotes pickup and learn the calling game real fast ....
