I've never gone out with the specific intention of hunting yotes, but I would say cover your scent as best you can. Be cautious of the wind direction and where you walk.
I was hunting turkey in the crown land that borders my property and walked down the trail i'd be sitting on to make sure there were no decoys already in the neighbouring feild. The long and the short of it is when a coyote came in at first light to my hen calls (which was kind of upsetting because apparantly my hen calls sound like a dying bird) the yote stopped dead to sniff out where i had walked 45 minutes before and busted me. I would have had to turn my barrel 45 degrees to take a shot and made it about a quarter of the turn before he was gone like a flash through the bush.
