hunting daypack . what does everyone use

X-Pak with a therma-rest seat attached to the lower part. I use this when I'm upland game hunting with friends or when deer hunting solo.
Most of time when I'm alone and small game hunting, I just use the generous pockets in my Articshield winter parka, or the Remington 3-in-1 hunting jacket or my Redhead Tundra hunting coveralls.

Maxpedition's Falcon II is great and very durable. Very expandable, and you can tighten the straps to have a pretty slim profile.

If you want to go ultralight, the Tasmanian Tiger Essential pack is AWESOME. Simple, slim and comfortable. SMALL. It's my new EDC pack for work.

I use a Eberlestock Lodrag
Great pack and the rifle scabbard is very handy

I've got a question, when the packs layed down on the ground, can it sight upright with the scabbard on the bottom?

My thinking is if I were to get the Lodrag (what I am looking at) I would want to put a shooting rest on top, but if the pack is going to rock while on the ground ill go with something else

What are you hunting and where? In NS I used 3 different packs depending. Here in BC I might cycle through 4.
Generic answer: Mystery Ranch Crew Cab. My missus packs a Mystery Ranch 6500. Can't beat them!

I use the MR 6500 for any hunting that I might be brining an animal out with me. I do want to order a crew cab bag more for day type hunting. The 6500 is alittle big when it's empty.

Eberlestock packs aren't even in the same league as mystery ranch... Nothing is

MEC cheapo daypack, in olive green. It was about $35 I believe, I've lugged it to over 9,000' now mountain hunting. Has been all over northern BC and Alberta with me as well, just the right capacity, comfortable, and extremely durable. No help in packing game though!

How'd we go from "day pack" to packing meat? (your mom joke here)

Lots of hunters hunt from foot only where the animals have to be packed out, especially mountain hunters where no motorized vehicles are allowed or cant get to. And yes, these can even be day trips. What you consider to be a "day pack" might not be everyone's ideal day pack.

Motorized access isn't allowed, or isn't possible, in a good portion of the places my buds and I hunt. A 'day hunt' will often have us 5-6 kilometres from the trailhead. There is no way I'd carry a pack that isn't capable of packing out, both from a capacity and frame stand point, at least part of an animal. Depending on the hunt, we often carry our 'expedition' packs for a day hunt.

Pretty sure I know a sheep that spent some time in that pack ;)

The pleasure was all yours, I'm sure!
Those MR packs make heavy loads easy to carry. I stuffed a whole (gutted) blacktail buck in mine and hiked for an hour back to the truck without even pausing. The missus has done the same for 20-30 minutes nonstop, which is impressive considering that the deer weighs more than half of what she does!

I use a MEC manpurse as my hunting bag on several occasions. It carries the essentials and is nothing to pack but like you said, there is no stuffing a dead moose in it. ;)
The chance to have it in hunting photos always brings me a special kind of joy.

That would be a cool picture. big 8-10 point buck with some dude with a "man purse" holding it Up by the rack. pretty sure every one would be thinking "i gotta get me one of those man purses." lol What mec "man purse" did you buy? On several occations I thought a messenger bag would be the best thing for me to carry as a day pack, but just as you said it's a purse lol. Well I bit the bullet and bought a utg messenger bag. I heard good things on a different forum and YouTube. Wish I could find one in duckblind camo or real tree ap.

I'm fond of my badlands monster with hydro pack and sometimes a small blaze orange back pack but usually just the monster.. For a fanny style it has A LOT of room
