Any members have any insight? Seems to be a very limited area that hunting can be done in... Anyone has recently drawed successfuly and hunted?

The guy who taught my hunter safety course in november said there were only 2 tags available the year before and he had managed to get one. Aside from very few tags, and that would now be 2 season old information, I know nothing about it.

There are 55 total available with some areas as low as one cow and one bull tag. Most of the land is private, so you'll need to get permission. Some of the draw areas have crown land but I don't know how many elk are sticking to bush when there are tasty crop and grass available.

Do a search on this forum, this has come up a few times. I'd also take a look at the Ontario Out of Doors forum.

If you are serious about the elk hunt, I'd take a drive to Bancroft and look around. Find some elk, talk to farmers and if you find some permission, apply there.

There is a draw in the area I hunt (61 north of the power lines), that said I have never seen any Elk there. Chatting with other fellow hunters in the area not many sightings.

I'm in 61 as well and I've got Elk sign all over the place (see my thread below on the sheds I've found). My neighbours drew a tag a couple years ago, but missed last year. You need a group of 4 and you might get 1 tag.

Thanks... that's the plan - just curious if anyone here has been successful in the past even just drawing a tag.
