hi particularly newer grand slams from speer, whats been your report? (newer ones)

im going down the 7mm 145gr route an keen to hear how these perform compared to say, interlocks, an woodleighs? are they a middle road?

thanks alot

I used 160gr GS in a 7mm RM on moose and found them very reliable all shoulder shots and only needed 1 per animal, excellent penetration they held together well I had 2 of the 4 guys in our group that changed from partitions to them for there ability to hold together. the only down side is there BC at long ranges but out to 300 yards I loved them

The one and only time I used Grand Slams in a (.270-130grn) was the last time.
Bullet hit a rib and exploded into nice shiny bits of copper into the chest cavity.
Second one hit the heart of the black bear and stopped it shortly after.
Sooo, yeah never used them again.

We took a couple Grizz back to back the same night with 2016 era Grand Slams from a .300, they definitely worked but I would call them a bit stiff. If shots get long, their suboptimal BCs as noted by John coupled with their stiff construction can make them a bit sedate as ranges stretch on. I now accept the same performance lead free, as if getting stiff bullets and suboptimal BCs, I might as well cut the lead out.

ive just been contacted by an australian company, Atomic29 to try some of their mono copper projies. 135gr in 7mm i believe.

interesting..... am having that issue with longer range an the 160 hot cors in 708 velocitys.... going to 145s

I doubt your longer range 160 hotcores challenges will disappear with the lighter but tougher grandslam. The Speer BTSP is a good longer range option and I'd happily use them all around for whitetail/fallow sized critters but I avoid the hard angled away shot.
