Do you guys have experience with hunting in another province?

I am an Albertan resident and looking at hunting bucks in Ontario with the inlaws.
Do you know what I need to do to be legal there on top of my Albertan hunting card?

Purchase a non-resident hunting license and you're good to go. You may either wait until you get here or check this out on-line www.ontario.ca/hunting-license=non-resident-ontario

Ok cool, that's what I figured.
I assume your Outdoors card is the same as our Win Card

I also just realized the tag fee varies drastically for resident and non-resident...
Deer Licence and Tag $49.56 for resident vs $255.17 for non-resident

It's even worse mark up for out of province moose tag.

A number of years ago my uncle in Alberta wanted to turkey hunt with me for a day or 2 when in Ontario since he had to enter a draw for turkey where he is and said he'd have to stay in around 15 years before he'd get one. The resident and non-resident tag prices are almost the same but the small game licence needed to accompany the turkey licence was $114.

I’m all for higher priced tags for non residents but Canada needs to take a better approach to out of province DIY hunting.

If you hunt in the Rainy River district in NW Ontario, one of your in-laws will need a Guide Licence. It’s the only area of the province where non-residents need to hire a guide. Two hunters per guide. The guide doesn’t have to be with the hunters but contactable. The rule was put in place to manage the large number of American hunters who would pour over the border to hunt... some only came over for the day and would go back across after dark.
