Hi guys.

Planning on moving to Australia to try and do a bit of work in my field in a couple of months here, worst case scenario it will be a bit of a vacation.

Curious if anyone has gone to Aus on a working holiday visa and done a bit of hunting? I know their gun laws make ours look liberal, so I'm curious if you can hunt there without booking a full on Safari experience. I once dreamed of going there to hunt water buffalos, but my career in Canada has had its ups and downs in the last few years due to economic factors so that will remain a dream unless Australia really pans out.

Would love also if you could share some stories of your hunts in Australia.

Thanks guys

Yeah bud, plenty of hunting without needing Guides or 'Safaris", Depending totally on Which state you end up Residing in. The Southern Eastern States offer good Hunting, the rest is a few hoops to jump through first.

Victoria is the heaven for a Deer Hunter, while NSW is close 2nd due to Public state forest hunting on Restricted Game Permits.....

some useful links an sources will be via google, GMA Vic, NSW Game Council,

Up in the North is different, Not much Public hunting but Private Property aplenty, hard to get onto Property though as it is worldwide.

The Big Buffalos and Safari Animals will need Guides as a lot is on Aboriginal Land in the North Centrals. this is big bucks as you're paying for Access more than anything.

All the Pests are available down South with minimum fuss or Fees..

You'l find a good 5 or 6 species of Deer in Victoria.... The Pests like Fox, rabbit, cat, and Waterfowl hunting during Seasons and under Permits.

All obtainable

Good luck, see ya round the Traps
