quick question, I looked through the regs and I can't find anything, a friend of mine says the largest caliber you can hunt with in BC is .458... all I see are minimum calibers, capacity for ammo and bullet types... can someone help me out and settle this argument with a link ?

"a friend of mine says the largest caliber you can hunt with in BC is .458"

He is very creative, to put it politely.

The only size restriction anywhere in the regs is no shotguns bigger than 10 gauge or loaded with single projectiles for migratory game birds. Everything else in the regs is minimum sizes. There are a lot of big bore muzzle loaders out there.

IIRC someone on another hunting site in BC that a .50 single shot BMG was used to harvest a moose.
But, that is just hear say ifffin you ask me.
Just minimum cal for rifle and nothing larger than a 10 gauge for waterfowl and a couple other shotgun restrictions for bear and no shotgun for big game ungulates.

You can use a 700 Nitro if you want. The BC regs spell out minimum rifle bullet weight/muzzle energy and bow/crossbow draw weight for specific animals. Eg. Bison - min 175grain bullet with 2000 ft/lbs at 100 m.

50 bmg is a non restricted hunting rifle. you got nothing to worry about.
