Hunting in Michigan

Hello, I have a PAL and shoot targets at a range with my guns.
I've never been hunting or taken any courses regarding it. I have some friends that live in Michigan that are hunters and would like to join them some time to try it out.

Assuming that I wanted to take part and be able to shoot an an animal (instead of just going out with them and watching) if the opportunity arose, what requirements would need to be fulfilled?
Could anyone provide me with the information or the website that explains any of this?

I'd be fine using one of their guns as I assume it would be more work to bring one of mine across the border. Would I need to take a US or Canadian hunting course to acquire a US hunting tag? Any legal problems with bringing the meat across the border?
 
I don't know details but my buddies hunt there all the time with bow and rifle. As far as I know they only have canadian hunting licenses and that allows them to buy tags. There is new regulations for transport of game meat and parts now so I'm not sure of the exact changes but when I run into them ill ask my buddies and get more info

Probably. If you have a hunting license from one jurisdiction such as Ontario, it is generally recognized as proof of having taken hunter education by other jurisdictions.

I don't know if there are any States or Provinces where you can obtain a hunting license without a hunter safety course, but if they exist there aren't many of them.
 
I would think the best thing to do is to search the Michigan DNR site for all your answers.
All the requirements will be listed, no opinions, maybe's, my cousin told me or end up saying to the American CO " a guy told me on a Canadian site it's ok if I" !!!!
 
Search the DNR for Micigan. I have hunted deer there and I bought my tag online and it was mailed to my house in ONT> there is no party hunting for deer.
They also have a shotgun line - above the line is rifle, below is shotgun. Also you cannot hunt from a tree stand with a firearm - only bow. Having said that, there are tons of deer. And written permission to trespass is required.

But you can buy a 2nd tag after you fill the first one. ANd usually a doe tag comes with your buck tag - 2 deer.

You need to check out the BATF site for bringing a rifle in - it is not hard - just send inthe form with a copy of your deer lic.
