Posted in the Mentoring section but doesnt seem to get much traffic, as I'd love to find someone to help me get started Im hoping to get a hit. That said in the meantime, any tips to share with someone new to hunting? no experience, no one to learn from so ive just been on google and the like.
This year will probably be duck, Id love to get a turkey but that doesnt look like it's going to happen, perhaps some small game later in the season. Never butchered anything so I dont think Deer will be on the card this year. Yes I have to learn somehow but I really dont want to waste an animal learning on my own; also partly why Id prefer to hunt with someone over solo, something I may not think of that could lend itself to an animal going to waste or suffering due to some unforeseen consequence on my part

much appreciated!

cheers!

Just checked it out, thanks!
NPCA will help with my losing all 3 hunting permissions id gotten, I figured 3 was enough and didnt go for anymore than that.
Lost 1 to a gf/wife another to a divorce and a 3rd one for an unknown reason

hunting in Niagara is a pain in the ass .For duck you need either a boat or a canoe or permission from a property owner. As for deer most of the npca areas are so overrun with orange during controlled hunt for deer there is usaly nothing in there.
I know its hard to get started hunting in this area the guys are very clickish and secretive. Give me a pm I might be able to take you out but I just started 3 years ago my self so still learning the spots and places to go

Can always do the winery tour instead. Very productive. :)

I've no issue hopping hurdles so to speak. I also dont expect a guided hunt experience, I want to learn the ropes and as such plan to be involved in as much as I can. not looking to just show up , shoot at something and go home. I want to learn whatever I can.
My motivation this year has been to get a Turkey but I only have a few days left to do so, so I dont really know if that will happen...

Yup, she is a ##### getting going here. I've just settled for small game for now lots of time in the year and you can hunt some marginal pieces you can not with the the larger animals. I miss living out west more every year. Getting permission was far easier there not nearly the sea of orange and you might see a deer in the off season. Plus it is far easier to swallow the return on investment or zero return when you get several good days out in the bush relaxing then the just the few days trying to deal with the orange zombies.

One thing and I had to learn keep in mind during this process was give yourself time to learn. I started gardening after a very long break and this is my third year now doing it my first year crap production almost every thing died or was a low yield, second year did a little better and this year gave away produce. If your family is any thing like mine the mocking can get to be a little much but just take it in stride and carry on.

My family is neither here nor there, just that none of them hunt. Im reading and watching what I can online, but that doesnt compare to realword experience and mentoring. That said all I can do is make the best of it and see where it takes me.
