Say I had an opportunity to go hunting in Montana... what would I need to be aware of, paperwork-wise, to be legal both bringing a rifle into Montana and then bringing my deer or elk (fingers crossed) back home? I'm a dual citizen. Anyone done this?

The rifle is good to go with an approved form 6NIA (temporary import permit) from the ATF. However, I don't believe you can bring any meat into Canada.

Being a dual citizen, you don't need, nor will they issue a form 6. When you enter the states, do so on your US passport. When you come back, use your Canadian passport.

Don't know anything about the meat.

Great info guys, thank you. Looks like I'm good to go to bring the Sako down (won't even try the Norinco) and bring the meat back. Now I just have to plow through the Montana hunting regs and see if they really want to charge me the $500+ it looks like they want :O
