I was settled on a Kuiu Icon pro 3200, but have been reading lots of reviews and I now really want the Exo 3500...

Any thoughts on a great lightweight pack, that I can expect to last for many years.

Thanks.

What's your budget? And what style of hunting? Are you just after a day pack or will you be hauling a multi day load and moose quarters? Mystery ranch and stone glacier seem to be thee name in packs these days. I would look at the mr Metcalf. It seems to be a good versatile pack. Out of my budget for now though. I just do day hunts in the prairies and wanted meat hauling capability so I went with a badlands 2200. I'm really happy with it but it might be a bit small for you.

I am heading on a caribou hunt in 6 months. We will be based in a camp with most things we need. I am planning on utilizing it as a day pack during the hunt, I will certainly use it on hunts after this, and I love how the newer style packs fit the meat between the pack and the frame. I'm up in the air for budget right now, I have a good chunk saved up, and could afford the best of the best, but not sure I need that.

Have a look at the Stone Glacier Solo... for packing during a trip day it (like all SG's) packs down tight and stays out of the way. Meat shelf is awesome! And it is big enough for a 7+ day-er if needed. My wife used the solo this year and I have the Sky 5900. We did 2 sheep trips this year using the SG's, a 7 day and a 9 day.

I like my Camelbak BFM. Being ex-military, my hunting gear is often more in the "tactical" spectrum. I have a brand new extra one with the tags still on it. PM if interested

Can’t complain about my exo3500. Incredibly comfortable and lots of room. Never tried a kifaru or stone glacier but my old kuiu icon (not the pro) was not nearly as comfortable as the exo.

The Seek Outside Revolution frames and packs are fantastic. Very comfortable whether I'm carrying a day pack load (<30 lbs) or hauling heavy stuff. The LL Bean Hunter's Carryall Pack works surprisingly well for the price. You need to provide the dry bag or duffle bag to attach to the frame though.

I use the Icon 7200 guiding, it’s good if not a tad finicky to set up with the meat web. It’s properly light. My advice is go much larger, I use the 7200 routinely as a day pack, after setting out to a base camp with ten days worth and making camp. You can always cinch them down but you can’t grow them later. I’ve seen all the packs come through with clients and guides, they all have their high and low points. I don’t think the Kuiu is the best but it works for me and the price was right. Mystery Ranch is too heavy in my eyes, only one I’d like to comment in specific on.

Kuiu has a much larger marketing budget than most of its competitors combined.

“Forget regular down, we use Super down!” 🤮

I’m not a mountain hunter but I am a gear junky and Kuiu has not impressed me in the slightest, not to mention left me hanging with two failed products.

Agreed 100%. Especially for a hunting pack.

With many of the modern packs- KUIU/Seek Outside/Stone Glacier- the weight savings of a smaller bag are marginal. My Seek Outside Evolution weighs under 4.5 pounds with the largest bags anyways. Lighter than my Mystery Ranch daypack. Haha.
