Just looking for some clarification on the hunting rules in NS.

If you have a habitat card/stamp you can hunt coyote year round with a rifle less than .230 cal.

Between Oct 15 and March 31 you can use a larger calibre.

Am I correct? The guy at the hunting store said you can only use a shotgun in the summer and that you can't you use a .223 for coyotes. I believe the regs changed in 2013.

shotgun(with shot only no slugs) is legal year round. from the second Monday of sept when bear season opens you can use any weapon legal for bear until the season ends or you fill your bear tag. same applies for deer if you have a tag. after filling deer/bear tag you cannot use any centerfire over 23 caliber until the general deer season closes(the first Saturday in December). after that until march 31 of the following year you can use any centerfire. if you do not hunt deer/bear you can still use a rifle to hunt coyotes after the 15th of October but it must be under 23 caliber(rimfires also fall into this group).

Thanks
I'm looking for a nice non restricted black rifle that can be used in the woods. Tavor or HK SL8 are the front runners. Just waiting to test fire the Tavor.
