Hey guys, just a quick note on what I experienced this past deer season. I got invited to hunt with a friend during the gun season. I hadn't hunted deer with a rifle in a long time so I figured it should be fun. I was hunting on a skidoo trail near south Gibson lake. As I was walking along a round wized by me to my right.a few seconds later two rnds went by on my left. These were all under 20ft away. In hind sight I should of fired a rnd safely in the ground to let the hunters know I was there. Instead I turned and got over the rock cut for safety. I texted my buddy to let him know just incase I didn't get back. So to the hunters that hunt that area(first week camp)and all hunters please know what's behind your target.

Maybe you were hunting on someones "territory".;)

Isn't the fist rule of shooting is to be sure of your backstop?

According to Col. Jeff Cooper, #4:

1) All guns are always loaded.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target. This is the Golden Rule.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

Just a friendly reminder that it's illegal in Ontario to discharge a loaded firearm from a right-of-way. OFSC trails are regarded as such.

It sounds like a reason I know plenty of folks that only bow hunt.

I don't feel safe some days on my own 50 acres.

I can see it now if you got shot, these guys would hear in the news that someone got shot near south Gibson lake and they would say Hey! we were there!! Good thing it wasn't us god damn, peoples are not careful enough with firearms. f:P:
