Any suggestions? I'm looking for a lightweight scope with turrets/dials.

New requirements:

50mm objective, turrets/dials, around 15 oz.

If weight is important i would recommend leupold, I have been very impress with the cds dials. You can always have korth install a turret on an existing scope, I'm running a vx2 2-7x33 with target dial right around 10oz.

Sorry, no joy there... all the SIII have tall target turrets.

The only one that might suit is the SIII 1-7X24. That has low profile turrets. In fact, it would make on heck of a short to mid range hunting scope.

Let me know

Mark 4 3.5-10 x 40 with M3 knobs. Knobs don't stick out, you can't get lost in your turret, you also have windage adjustment which you don't get with a CDS, clicks that you can feel 2 provinces over and a side focus. As near as I can tell I can see everything and more at 10 power as I can with a non AO 14 power VX3. It its very much a CDS on steroids, and you can use it for pounding fence posts in the off-season. Korth will cut a custom dial for you to match your cartridge.

I put one on a Gaillard barrelled Sako STW to see what I give up over big scopes and heavy rifle builds. Not much at the extreme long end, and its 10 times the gun for the 0-500 stuff.

Why 50mm objective? Not really needed if your magnification isn't high as your pupil only opens so large. How far are you shooting?A 15oz scope with repeatable reliable turrets that actually adjust in the 1/4 min or .1 mil increments that they say they do - you might be looking for a unicorn. Get a compact night force and be done.

No one has brought it up, so ....what is your price range. Some would want one sub $300, others are suggesting $1100 optics. Anything is possible if you throw enough Bordens at the problem?

What firearm and caliber are you equipping?

Blaser R8 in 30-06

I honestly have no set budget. If it exists, I'll save for it.

Yeah I'm aware I'm looking for a unicorn scope. I need the 50 to see during dusk and dawn

with an european rifle maybe an european scope .... but those days are gone for as there is no hunting that need a 50mm if you need to gather light a 56 is the standard. on the other hand i hunted on high seat at night wild board and used a meopta 7x50 never feel handicapped with that ``low`` end scope.

50 and 56 with good quality optics means weight.

good luck on that task Xopher.

I have now had a chance to look at all the various samples from the SIH and SIH tac lineup. They offer really nice optics and features... very surprising. Eye box is similar to the SIII's which is to say easy to use and give a nice large view.

Glass offers really nice clarity and resolution... and I mean when comparing to consumer grade scopes which can cost a whole lot more.

Knobs move with very nice clicks. Not used one on a rifle yet, so can't confirm tracking but so far, all Sightron products have worked well in that regard.

No idea on longevity but definitely worth a look if interested in a 1" scope of entry costs.... but wanting better.
