Hunting season is right around the corner and many are starting to prepare for the sport we love. Our group has been doing just that for decades, and was looking forward to yet another great season.
Things changed dramatically a few days ago. One of my hunting buddies was rushed to hospital where he underwent open heart surgery. This of course means that his hunting season ended before it began. All went well and he is now on the mend. That of course is the priority and absolutely great!
In fact, he texted me last night from the hospital. We live in Alberta and he was drawn for Bull Moose, Mule Deer, and Cow Elk this year. I will not go over the Priority/Draw system here as most in this Province are familiar with it, and somewhat similar in other Provinces.
He tells me he will contact F&W and or RELM to see if his successful draws for this year can be "cancelled" due to his recent and unexpected health issues. His request will also include that his priority numbers remain the same for next year. He has already obtained a letter from the Doctor indicating he is not fit due to the recent surgery. I myself believe that this is certainly not unreasonable.
You guys think he has a chance with this request? I for one, don't remember nor heard of that being done before in this Province.
