Hey CGN. Anyone have recommendations for hunting slings? I'm looking for something nylon. I enjoy to the Vickers BFG sling for more tactical-style firearms, and feel that it's ability to cinch down could be beneficial when trying to take up a more steady standing shooting position.

I was looking at slings like the SAP positional sling (for loop technique) https://www.shortactionprecision.com/collections/sap-positional-sling or Viking Tactics Hunting sling (which is basically like the Vickers BFG) https://www.vikingtactics.com/product-p/vtac-hs.htm

Anyone use these types of slings for mobile hunting (I won't be sitting in a blind), or anyone have other suggestions? I'd appreciate your insight.

Not sure what rifle you are using for hunting, but I found that you cannot beat a slogan sling. The grip is just right with the rubber, and if you come upon a fence or something you need 2 hands for, you can sling the rifle on like a backpack.
Maybe not the most tactical... But the best ive found thanks to a forum on here a few years ago..
I have the regular and the thicker magnum sling. The regular is all you need and works well for everything a sling is supposed to do.

Very interesting! The rubber construction probably has a very nice sticky grip against the clothing. Do you find that it stretches or causes the firearm to bounce as you walk?

The firearm it will be used with will be a 308 Winchester model 70 extreme. Tactical is not necessarily what I'm looking for, but rather something that is flexible, adaptive and that can be used to provide some support in a pinch.

The construction is, quite honestly, the best Ive found. It stretches but not enough that it bounces. Its grippy, but not so much as it hinders the use. It is excellent for a hand wrap, off hand shot, as well as a great grip from my shooting stick.
For the price, I would say try one.
All my other hunting slings just sit in a box in the basement now.

for hunting? forget about "tactical" slings. (there's no such thing as a "tactical" object, it's just marketing crap)
the Safari sling is faster than other slings

The OP asked about shooting slings that double as a carry strap. The safari sling is just for carrying, no?

I just bought one of the Slogan slings and I do like it but I find it has a strong rubber smell to it.
Do you guys know if it goes away after awhile?

I haven't really noticed. Maybe throw it in a bag with some cedar branches or something? Not sure if rubber takes on smells. I don't think mine smells at all anymore.

I have Quake "The Claw" slings on almost all of my rifles... I changed the plastic swivels to Uncle Mike's metal QR lockable swivels.

I was looking for the same thing in a sling. Tried the Galco safari sling and found it quick to get into for shooting supported but a major PITA for use with a pack. It would not stay on my shoulder for love nor money. Next was Andy's Leather Rhodesian sling. Very nice traditional leather sling, better, but still a bit of a pain with pack straps, especially while glassing . I now have a Slogan sling and like it a lot. It stays put, pretty much no matter what. The rubber is a little too grippy sometimes and the sling will hang up a bit coming off the shoulder. Nice and solid though, when slung up for shooting. The plastic swivels seem solid enough and they are dead silent. No squeaks or rattles. If I remember correctly the Slogan and Andy's slings are almost identical in weight.

Out for a quick morning hunt or walk in the bush without a pack I'd opt for the leather, but hunting with a pack or through difficult terrain it's hard to beat the Slogan.
