Sitting down with some friends last night, got on the topic of our hunting plans this year. A friend told us of a hunting trip he did and detailed the kind of accommodations involved. Sounds like something we could do.

I'm curious to see what other members have for a spot setup be it a large tent, camper or cabin. Post pics !

Also if anyone knows where to find a half decent 16x16 or larger surplus tent under 1500, that'd be great!

12x14 wall tent for most of it, I have a new one being built same size but with 5' porch , 5' walls and a single zipper back door as well

12X12 dome tent under a 20X30 tarp lashed over a ridge pole... covers the tent, kitchen and dining area. Quick, easy, dry, comfortable.... for more space, you can do two such set-ups.

in recent years we have been using this teepee tent made in BC interior. AWSOME , has served us well and we now have a good routine for setting her up fast.
4 cabelas deluxe hunting cots comfortably fit around the perimeter of the inside, wood stove in the middle and still have room for gear and a small woodpile.

our other tent is a pretty darn sturdy wall tent , in severe weather, I like it better as we can build an awning for a semi enclosed cook shack/hang out area in crappy weather. 1st pic is on the shores of Nadina lake BC , second is -28weather Mcleese lake area BC , woke up to a foot of new snow each day and truly had to abandon the hunt when the snow started getting bumper deep on my lifted jeep YJ. was a trip from hell let me tell ya. By the way, these pics are from the same 2 week trip, starting with moose at nadina and then doe draws in mcleese.
The wall tent stood up to some serious abuse on this trip.

Strangely enough, I don't have any pics, but been using a 12-man Kifaru tipi c/w stove for the last few years. Awsome piece of kit, well worth the price.

I've been looking at canvastentshop . ca.
Looking at the 16x24 to split between my 3 buddies but allows us some extra room for more people if needed.

Keep the pics and setups coming. Love these!

i spent years living and setting up wall tents but after hunting with Tom and Tony i say the tipi tent is the way to go take up so much less room in a truck or boat and only 1/2 the lb

I just used a Coleman 6 man dome tent last Fall for our moose hunt but there was only two of us. I've heard that the tents made by Deluxe Wall Tents are pretty heavy duty and they're made in Canada, too.

10x12 Woods prospector with 5' sidewalls and heavy fly. Heated with a Drolet Hunter wood stove. Ideal for two man or three if really friendly. It will take all weather and is fairly easy to set up and manage. I have a custom made aluminum interior tent frame with it also.

If you're looking at something that big consider two 14X16s. You can set them up in line, doors facing, about 10 to 15' apart and then tarp the area between the tents. One tent , no wood stove,is used for sleeping (a 14X16 will fit six Cabela's cots). The other, with a stove is used for cooking, b.s.ing etc. The space in between is used as a vestibule for storage, doing dishes etc. If someone wants to go to bed early on nights when the b.s. is getting thick he just retires to the "bedroom". Also, if you are going on a quick hunt with only a couple of the guys you can leave one tent at home and do all the living in the one smaller, easier to set up tent.

5' walls are a must. They increase liveable space dramatically.

This is the last tent I will hunt out of while in bear country. The three Grizzlies came back at 6:00AM to wake us up litterally rocking one of the trucks we were sleeping in to wake us up! This was south of Tumbler Ridge,BC. September 2012. Only wildlife we saw were seven additional G-bears and one lonely blackie. Zero elk or deer

same thing happend to me before the was no food in the ten but the black bear was so accustom to finding food in tents that it ripped every thing looking that night he came back so i had to shoot it he was piss that there was no food laying out for him

many hunters don't like to see dogs in camp...... bears (and camp thieves) don't like them too much and have never bothered us on the trips I've brought at least one of my rottweillers on.
Nadina is full of grizzly bears and we saw lots of sign around and near camp but none came to bug us or our hanging meat. The dog spoke up a few times during our trip, I can only assume he was smellin trouble ;) in that pic above, he's just a 10month old pup there, on his first extended hunting trip, getting introduced to moose and gunfire ;) .

with so many people the bush bear will bear will go into you camp its just a fact most encounters are harmless now a days you can get a bear fence myself I just pee around the camp but it only works if only one guy is marking the place up and it cant be a woman or kids

14 x 16 wall tent with an external frame constructed of available black spruce logs and a fly overlay. We put some effort into building a removable framed platform to get up off the ground and away from the moisture. It also enables the cots to sit on the level.

The cook tent is just a simple frame with some tarps to keep the weather out.

This set-up has been through some pretty rough weather and stood the test. Here it is.

And of course, most importantly, the crapper with a view....and a little snow on the seat
