Hey fellas, I'm looking to plan a hunt for august 2008 up in the Mackenzie Mountians on the NWT side and was looking for some info. I've heard that you can drive up through the Yukon and get into some good territory. I'm looking to get Moose, Mountain caribou, Grizz Bear, but the main target in Dall Sheep, Anything info at all would be greatly appreciated Thanks fellas, Chad

I hunted that area with Ceaser Lake Outfitters twice in the last few years, on the Yukon side. The better sheep country is on the NWT side, and there seems to be lots of good Mt. caribou all through the area. I shot both my sheep and caribou about 500M from the NWT border. Moose are scattered, I was suprised to find they were up high in the mountains feeding on alpine willow when we were hunting sheep in August. I think the only road through there goes to the Tungsten mine. Get in very good shape and be prepared for a lot of backpacking if you're hunting from a drive-in base camp!. 3 main items to spend real serious money on are good boots, good binoculars and tough, functional rain gear. It's very beautiful country. Good luck!
