I am starting to create a hunting themed room and am looking for some ideas from you folks on what to add to the collection to display.

I have a couple antler mounts and vintage decoys as a start.

Any help would be appreciated.

And YES, my wife is letting me :D

To help decorate my hunt camp I bought a few cheap picture frames at wally world and I printed off some ads I got off the internet by doing google searches.... Stuff like this.....

We recently downsized to a smaller home, and I'm sitting in our den right now, roughly a 12x14-foot room. It contains a large full-mount black bear, a few deer racks and turkey fans, a small bookcase with hunting-themed books, skulls and odds'n'ends, and a whack of framed 5x8-inch hunting and fishing trophy photos. I'd love a couple of ducks mounted in flying position, hanging on the wall...don't have any.

One wall is dominated by flat hanging skins of an impala, a springbok and a blue wildebeest. I plan on hanging a bunch of skull mounts on that wall, on top of those skins (strategically placed to hide the bullet holes:D).

I think an original or replica flintlock rifle, with the touch-hole plugged or welded, would look great if legal (gotta check into that). If you're into archery, a nice wooden longbow or recurve would be nice. Any old family pictures that feature hunting or fishing, or even old trophies taken by family members, could have a place of honour. A couple of scrapbooks of appropriate snapshots fit in well also.

It's barely started, but I can already see that I am going to love sitting and reading in this room, maybe with some music. NO TV! Hopefully you will enjoy yours as much. You already have the #1 most important ingredient: the correct wife!:)

Almost forgot! A few of those retro-styled tin signs, advertising gun or ammo companies look great in a room like this.

small glass display case's that hang on the wall with old ammo box's , maybe your recovered bullets on a case , cabella's have a ton of stuff too

A rack of single malts and other fine whiskeys. I have my skulls euro mounted turkey fans and a full turkey skin with wings. I did my office in 2 tone paint. Hawthorn tan and sage green. 1/3 green at the botton turning to the tan. At the line I got a wall paper banner of deer and woodies by a cabin. The colours suit it nice and it hides the line. I've got drift wood and other animal related things on the walls and of course my gun stuff

I forget what its called wayne scotting maybe but cedar or pine boards vertically on the walls for 3' or so looks cool. My office is so packed with hunting gear and reoading stuff that I can't move in all that well. Good luck!
Also look at some holland n holland or griffin and howe or even beretta showrooms on line

Hummm.... Well I’m picturing some nice hardwood floors with a stonewall fireplace. Possible an old flintlock musket mounted above the fireplace with the biggest taxidermy moose head you can get mounted above the musket. It would be nice to have a leather sofa and chairs around a handmade red oak table with lots of mineral grain lines and a polar bear fur rug in front of the fireplace so you and your buds can chat about hunting. Next you will need a gate of some kind, large enough for a car to fit though but strong enough to be a fortress so no pricks can break in because it would be very nice to have a Lamborghini or Ferrari right in the middle of the room, possibly just right behind the leather sofa. I'm imagining nice glass locking cabinets all along the a wall on one side of the room but no tactical guns only side/side, over/under shotguns, combo guns, fine bolt action rifles, and double rifles. A few fancy lever actions would be nice to see too. I'm also imagining the cabinets on a step up floor kind of like a wraparound balcony with stairs and a railing with animal carvings. A nice red wine carpet that leads from one end of the floor step up to the other would also be a nice touch. Now, to the left side of the fireplace would be a beautiful bar with fine alcoholic beverages such as whiskey, wine, and Sella Artois on tap. Then fill in the empty space in front of the bar with the best taxidermy trophies you have. A book shelf would hunting books and gun books would be great aswell. Then of course fill in the wall space with the best hunting paintings you can find or even collectibles like an old pair of biathlon skies. Well, that’s about it. Anyways, have fun with making you're hunting room. I would estimate the cost of this room being around the $1,500,000 mark if you include the cost of building, the guns, and the car. Did I forget to mention the celling must be high because that’s kind of important. You don't want to have a nice fancy hunting room with a low celling.

I found some old style traps for sale on line, they look good on the wall out at the cabin. FS

Go here for a whole bunch of great old gun ads: http://www.fieldandstream.com/photos/gallery/hunting/deer-hunting/2010/06/gun-ads-40s-and-50

I use deer hides as table linen.
Bookshelf with old Rifleman magazines and Outdoor life I got from garage sales for next to nothing. Also holds all my outdoor books.
Old maps from garage sales mounted on the wall.
Different types of targets. Some of my favourite or memorable targets I have shot with details written on them so they are self explanatory.
Bullitin board with labels from cigars pinned to it with my fovourite on top and least at the bottom.
Pictures on the wall from previous hunting trips and outdoor pictures taken by my wife.
I have mason jars which I put BC Wildlife Federation stickers on and use them for beer glasses.
I have some empty ammo cans from Princess Auto.
A heavy glass ashtray I picked up at a garage sale for holding my cigar :).
Old fishing rods from garage sales.
My record collection and record player.
I have Hudson Bay Blanket placed on a shelf with dispaly items on top of it.
Camo fabric covering over unsightly stroage shelving.

Some good ideas there...

I had built my man cave in sort of a cabin feel. Built on the cheap with mostly old stuff from the farm. If you are in the basement and have a telepost to cover nothing does it like a log peeled and halved. Barn wood, antlers from 80ish years ago, traps and the old pictures. Tobacco cans.
Phil Goodwin and Hy Hutchinson pictures, and CM Russel pictures are sure to be enjoyed by all.

If you get really bored make the wall trim yourself using rough cut lumber lightly sanded, stained and varnished, brings the character out in the wood. If you look close at some of the pics here, the first try had white MDF baseboard and trim painted white which IMO looked horrid so I tore it all out and made the trim as mentioned. Much better. The pics are bad, sorry, but maybe will give you an idea or two.
