Hunting with a Sprinfield M1A ?

beef yourself up first- get used to carrying that thing around- even with a 5 round mag , she runs about 10-11 pounds without scope- most 'hunting"rifles weigh under 9 with scope

I saw someone shooting a hog with one on youtube, and was personally planning to use my M305 as hunting rifle before I got attracted to the Swede 9.3s. I think a few others on this board took their M305s deer hunting and cannot see why you should not do the same with a Springfield.

Good Luck!

Most reliable semi-auto I know of for deer hunting. Yes, it's a little heavier, but 2 deer later and counting. Love the original peep sights.

Some of my hunting buddies made fun of it a few times when they first saw it. They wanted to know what the bayonet lug was for. [Mine still has one]
Told them that was for the bayonet if I need it to run the deer through with. After 2 deer fell clean, nobody questions what it does. A .308 is a .308.

Back in the good ole days I used to hunt deer with a G3 and 20 rd mag. It worked just fine.

M1a Hunting

I been hunting with my springfield for 2 yrs now and I love it! Yes they are a little heavy but , you don't choose to hunt with it because it is the most ergonomic gun for hunting, but it sure is a lot of fun to hunt with and make's for good hunting pic's. A big black rifle and a 20 round pinned mag hanging out the bottom! I still love when people ask me what I shot my deer with!!!

The main reason I got mine was that it was one of the most reliable and accurate , non restricted, semiauto rifle's in a big enough caliber to hunt deer on the market! That is also why I got the Springfield, i didn't want to have mess around with a bunch of upgrade's! Right out of the box MOA accuracy with the right ammo! Just my 2 cents
:D
