Hunting with Bi-Metal Bullets?

Some time ago I made a video praising the SCDS LVE manufactured 203gr Soft point ammunition that was for sale at Westrifle. This 203gr pill was coming out of a 91/30 barrel clocking just over 2400 fps and it shot very accurately. However the bi-metal jacket (copper coated steel jacket) does not give you much expansion.

The same ammunition is also branded to WOLF (made by LVE - same factory as the branded SCDS ammo) It is the same ammunition.

Hunting is all about Bullet Placement - I get it.

The chap in this video praises it for it's deep penetration however I suggest he doesn't understand the balance between penetration and expansion. Your thoughts?

RC; I am not so sure I would be condemning this bullet so quickly. I bought a substantial quantity of these
bullets from a gent who had pulled apart a lot of it. They weighed 203 grains [+- .6 grain] and measured
.3107 in diameter. Jackets are copper plated mild steel, with a generous softpoint of lead exposed.

I loaded them to a chronographed 2460 in my P14 303 British, using sufficient H380 to get them there.
Shot a 240 lb black bear broadside through the lungs at 80 yards or so. The expansion was quite impressive,
and the bear died quickly. The bullet did exit, but the exit hole was about 2¾" in diameter, and the lungs were
mush, so it must have expanded just fine. I found no fragments to speak of in the cavity of the bear.

I am going to section one to see what the jacket thickness is like, but I would have no hesitation using this
bullet on deer, moose, whatever. Dave.
 
Hi Dave at what distance did you shoot the bear and what velocity do you estimate that bullet was moving when it hit?
