I was curious if, or how many, hunt using a Springfield M1A as their rifle. Seems to me would be decent for deer-sized game. Plus, I was trained on its original version called the M14...and before that knew how to work the M1 Garand...

I've taken 2 deer with my Norinco M14. Works fine, I was in a tree stand & didn't have to lug the rifle too far...

Cheers
Jay

As much fun as they are to shoot, I still think they are miserable guns with which to hunt. I used my Norc a few years ago for deer; that was the first and last time I'll do that. Of course it worked, but it was overweight, clumsy to carry and way too noisy to load. Cool to use as a novelty, but that's about it.

I hunted deer a few seasons with my m305 and shot a fair amount of coyotes with it. Its heavy to carry but if you dont mind that its great. I have since moved on to a 102 for my main coyote gun still heavy but i still thoroughly enjoy hunting with it.
