Looking at a wee spot about 10 minutes north west of Mount forest, but. Only looking at it as a deer hunting spot. Some say it's good. Good enough You could shoot two good animals. Some tell me it's turned "Dead zone"
Anyone know?

not sure what it is you are asking .are you looking to buy .most places in this area that hold deer will also hold turkeys and other game like bunnys and yotes .The mount forest area has always been a good area for deer .I have not hunted the area for years .Your best bet is to get out and walk the area that will tell you what is going on in the area Dutch

I understand that, but. Foolishly I thought that given it's a 5 hr drive one of my brethren on a shooting forum might give a useful opinion first. My error

Tough season this year. We had a HARD winter last year and it seriously hurt the herd. It has usually been a good area but does have a lot of pressure because it is
an open rifle season. Used to be you could get permission on a place without too much trouble , now it is tough and you will likely have someone hunting beside you and behind you and in front of you.
Having said all that it, you will have to take a look and do some serious homework before committing to anything.

Not sure what 82A is like but 82B which is just a bit north was terrible. We got 2 bucks on the last day, hardly saw anything.
REAL HARD winter here last year, plus lots of coyotes, deer herd is way down.

I don't know how much public land there is in that area and I am guessing most of the private land is being hunted already, so my opinion is getting permission to hunt where it won't be shoulder to shoulder will be tough.

Good luck.

deer are way down out there. There are still pockets that hold good amount of deer this time of the year (yarding spots). Last winter was very hard on them, 50-100km winds all the time in -20 out in that flat open country made it a whiteout.
