Not sure if this is the right place for this or not, but every time I post in here I get very helpful responses.

So I picked up a huntshield 40 gun safe. I know they certainly aren’t the best, but it seemed well built and I got it for what I think is a great price ($500 on kijiji in as new condition). I’m quite happy with my purchase. Changed the combination and loaded it up. Recently found out there is a backup key that can be used incase of failure of the keypad. I did not receive any keys with the safe. The widow I bought it from says she never knew of any keys. I am having trouble finding any sort of customer support for this safe. Any of you gun nuts able to shed light on this situation?

Your responses are greatly appreciated. Thanks I’m advance.

Is your main concern just having back up keys in case of electronic failure? Or is your concern that someone out there may have a key to your safe?

My concern is having a backup key incase my keypad fails. I would like to be able to get into it without destroying it if the keypad fails. Not going to lie I’ve never been a fan of the electronic key pads on safes. If I had my choice I would have a mechanical combo lock. But it’s 2023 and it seems those are fading out. I just bought this because the price was right.

I know I could get a locksmith to come out but I’m sure that would be far more expensive than what I could get a new set for from the manufacturer. Unfortunately I have no idea who that is yet. May give Canadian tire a call I didn’t think of that.

I have a Huntshield Dial and Huntshield Key Pad , the key is a
long shaft Skeleton style that I've not seen before.

Contact distributor or dealer , I would be very surprized to
find a Lock Smith with a replacement , but worth a try.
... skwerl

Contact stack on, they make the safe for Canadian tire, you will see a white sticker on the front lower of the safe, give that number to Stack on and they will send you out the keys for the safe

Winchester 1973 thank you !!! This was the answer I was looking for. I knew that some other company must have been making these for huntshield. I will give stack on a call tomorrow. Thanks again.

I like the rotary dial as well! One of my safes is a large Frontier but the key only locks the dial from being turned. If I bang my head and forget the combo, the key wont help me!!!!

I've had a Hunter safe for nearly 20 years with a similar electronic key pad as on your Huntshield with never a problem or issue. I would suggest that when you change the battery you do so with the door open and verify everything is good before locking up.

The Stack On key pads are prone to failure, check on Youtube. I have two 40 gun Huntshield safe and both my keypads have failed, but Stack on is great about replacing them. When my first one failed they sent me a replacement, when my second one failed they sent me two instead of one, they said for a back up
