I would like to update a Huskvarna 1640/1600 .243 Winch. to a modern scope. At present there are Bausch and Lomb external adjusting mounts on it, along with a B&L variable 2.5 to 8 scope. According to the serial number, the rifle was made in 1963. I fired it this year and it is accurate, but the scope has a tapered crosshair that is difficult to see against a forested background or in low light. Because the present scope has no internal adjustments, the retaining rings are very close togethrr and will not permit the mounting of a scope with internal adjustments.
Now for the question, I need to know which mounts fit this rifle. I have seen some for sale, that claim to fit Hushvarnas, but they only have three mounting holes, two in the front and one in the rear, while the B&L mounts have two in the rear. Maybe a hole is hidden, I could not tell. If you can help me out, or point me in the right direction. Thank you.

Here is what I used on my 1600, should be the same for

What type of mounts are you looking for? Weaver, Leupold, Conetrol???

While the action itself have 4 holes, some mounts may use only three of them.

Weaver; # 46 front, # 55 rear (steel Grand Slam bases are available)
Leupold; STD-HC 49989
There are Recknagel bases and rings, but htey are more $$$
There are many others, too.

Yes those look like they would be fine. That sure is a long thread. I took the stock off and the barrel has been free floated and an adjustable trigger was installed, I'm sure it was a tradewinds. I hope that is good thing, but I will have to figure out how it works, right now it seems very light, but then I'm used to a Lee Enfield.

I have no preferences in bases, but I will be mounting a redfield revolution 2-7 on it and I would like it as low as possible.

Leopold is a well known name, but only two mounting holes, just does not seem enough.
Redfield may have one as well but I'm not sure of the fit, will have to do more research on that.
When I went to the Weaver sight, it showed a 36 for the front mount, for the HVA, but obviously a 46 fits. What would be the difference between the two I wonder?
On both the Leopold and Redfield mounts there is a windage adjustment at the rear, why would that be necessary?

Thank you both for your replies

I'm PMing you a scope mount chart for the Husqvarna rifles that I used to find the correct ones for my rifle, also with the help of our good friend Baribal who replied earlier.

The link I posted is a very extensive post containing a LOT of information.

You will find Baribal to be a very good source of information on the Husqvarna rifles.

Redfield IS Leupold... but I don't see where you found that the Leupold base only have two mounting screws??? The one piece bases actually have 4 holes, just like the action itself, two in the front ring and two in the rear.

Weaver's site shows 46 front and 55 rear or with an "S" for steel bases (Grand Slam)...

As for "windage adjustment", it's more of a way of fast removing of the scope...

First, appologies for the slow response, but with perusing the Huskvarna sticky, Christmas with the grandkids, trying to learn how to play Assasins Creed (epic fail on that one), time passed at muzzle velocity.

Anyway Baribal, the bottom site shows the 36 mount for the front. All other sites I found showed 46 for the front. I suspect an error, but I don't know.

The top site shows a picture on Leupolds site, good to know that they actually have four holes though.

I will post pictures et al on the sticky once things settle down around here.

I have the weaver bases and Burris Low Z rings on order. I think 1 may have erred in getting the low rings as they may interfere with scope clearance. What do you think?
