I looked at a Husqvarna 12 ga. side by side underlever that I'm thinking of purchasing and am unsure of a few things. First off, it looks very similiar to a Mod 17 (side plates and stock appear to be the same) though I can find no definitive markings. What I did find unusual (or hope to be corrected here) is that it has the external rebounding hammers and dual triggers, and will chamber 2 3/4 in. snap caps. I have seen configurations of external hammers and 2.5 in. chambers and no external hammers with 2 3/4 in. chambers but not together as on this gun. There is no stamping on either barrel denoting the chambering.

- Has it been reworked to accept 2 3/4 shells or is this a normal combination?

- What is the correct model # based on this limited description (I didn't measure the barrel length)?

Any help from a Husky guru is appreciated.

A 2 3/4 inch shell is only 2 3/4 inches long after it has been fired (or before it is crimped). Therefore a 2 3/4 inch shell will fit into a 2 1/2 inch chamber. Most (all?) of the snap caps that I have seen are less than 2 3/4 inches in length - why make a snap cap that won't fit in certain guns? Have you actually measured the snap caps?

If the gun has the Lefaucheux bolting system it could be a model 15, 17 or 20. All had 2 1/2 inch chambers.
