Husqvarna 1600 scope mounting solution

Finally got the right scope for my 30-06 carbine... problem is my current mounts don’t fit. So I’m looking for an other mounting solution.

Started with a Vari-X IIc 2-7, then a Vari-X III 1.5-5. Wanted the objective of the 2-7, and the glass of the 1.5-5, so I found a Vari-X III 1.75-6 which is exactly what I want. Problem (which I knew beforehand) it wasn’t going to fit with my Sako system.

I like these mounts because the bases are low profile and they are QR. There are extended rings for them, but they are few and far between... and sellers always want a premium for them.

The Redfield/Leupold systems are out as the extended rings look ridicules. The EAW and Recknagel would work awesome but damned expressive. Weaver makes tip-off rings that will work but they are a pain to level and they pinch the tube.

What else is there?

Actually, you CAN use the 1.75-6, just not the one you have... Leupold made them in two tube lengths, short and long, yours is the short tube... just wait and watch and pick up one of the long tube 1.75-6 scopes... I have had both tube lengths and had a bugger of a time mounting the short tubes (which is why Leupold lengthened the tube).

The 1.5-5 is going on a different gun. I already have a 2.5-8 on my other longer barreled 30-06.

They don’t come in gloss as I recall. I know I’m being picky. Lol. I have this thing with keeping older guns vintage looking.

Might have to go that route... I have seen EAW copies on EBay from a guy in QC. Borom... but there isn’t any info on who makes them.

Does flipping the rear base help get you some room up front, or conversely, Talleys (extended, if available)? Personally I'd look for one of the newer 2x7 leupolds (vx2 with the upgraded glass), not sure if they were available in gloss though.
Nice rifle, btw, bet it jumps around a bit when the pin falls!

It’s not too bad. I shoot nothing but 180-200s out of it.

I’m good with what I got. Already spent the cash.

Eye relief is the same as the 1.5-5.

Try a weaver 402 base. It's an extension base fits both the small ring and large ring mausers.

Had a Vari-X IIc 3-9 on it before but it made it too front heavy. Balances nice with the 2.5-8 because it’s a bit shorter and less glass up front.

Honeslty I like my scopes to be under 3x on the low end for hunting purposes. It’s faster (for me) to acquire target with both eyes open on initial contact. Zoom in for the shot if nessisary. If it’s a long shot... move closer. It’s that way I learned to hunt.

I did notice that many of the 1600s on TradeEx use Weaver #25 and #35 bases instead of #46 and #55. All that is needed is a 0.013” shim at the rear. This may be a better way to go as I can use high rings to clear the objective and keep the scope a tad lower.

Here is a Weaver K3-1 Microtrac on 46/55 bases with Low Weaver rings on a 1600 carbine in 7x57. There is about .500" below the front of the scope tube to the barrel, meaning you could fit up to a 2" OD objective.

Won’t work with the 1.75-6 shorty. The sharp angle of the objective won’t work with medium rings.

As with my previous post went with Weaver #25 and #35 bases. Shimmed them for a near perfect alignment. Lapped the crap out of the Weaver high extended rings and here is the result. Suprized with how it turned out. Eye relief and scope height are just right for me.
