I would much appreciate inputs from folks who own/use one in Cal .22 ....

- quality of iron sights?
- accuracy out to 15 yards with heavier (hunting) pellets?
- good trigger?
- is the advertised 430fps true?...I'd be much happier if it was about 495 :)
- which dealer may offer the most competitive price?

The intent is to carry one for Grouse during Deer season (in ON).

Another option would've been the Diana pistols as I've used those and similar pistols from Walther (no longer in production) for many years in the past. However, I'd rather avoid pistols that have greater OAL and the HW45 appear to meet that criteria.

Thanks,

Thanks,

1) decent but the fiber optics get blinding bright in the sun, the rear sight can loose its zero if the pistol is carried anywhere other than your hand or in a case.

2) The hw is accurate but takes a loooong time to learn how to shoot it, it's a very hold sensitive pistol, i'm a fairly good pistol shot but I couldn't even hit a coke can at 15 yards during the first 6 months I owned it, it was really frustrating at first.

3) excellent trigger, the weight, travel and let off point can be adjusted

4) around 420-440fps

5) specialty shooting sports is where i got mine, good prices, good people.

I wouldn't recommend the .22 hw45 for hunting, it's probably not strong enough to penetrate the feathers on a grouse and make a clean kill at the same time, and getting a birdy headshot with that pistol would be quite hard. You could always buy a .177 barrel for the hw45, I think that would bring the fps to around 600 which would be enough for hunting...but then it would be restricted ;)

Body shots aren't going to work out with most any pistol. In the head or neck 450 fps and the off switch is flipped..........Harold
