HWS, relfex or Red Dot with fixed sights.

I am looking for a red dot or holographic site that has built a built in site that would operate without batteries if they were to die. Does anyone make sure a sight?

Or is there a sight(s) that work in combination with flip up or rail fixed irons?
 
Your options are limited when it comes to multiple power sources for reticle illumination.

Trijicon offers the Accupoint line of scopes/optics that provide illumination via fibre optics and tritium and never need batteries. They also offer the Tri-power which offers both methods above as well as battery. The newest offering from trijicon runs on batteries and solar panels.

Leupold offers their prismatic sight with a standard black reticle with the option to illuminate via battery.

Aside from the above there's not much selection. There are other battery less choices that run on strictly fibre optic and/or tritium sources. In addition, Aimpoints optics are well known for their insane battery life, like 5 years on a battery, always on.

ETA: Reddots or HWS sights will work with folding irons. Magnified optics will not.
 
I am very familiar with the Elcan's (not a fan) at work but I would like something that has a fixed point without batteries but after now owning 2 EOTec sights I want something that combines both. I like the large window on the EOTech sights for quick target marking and field of view but I couldn't find a set of irons that worked with them for slightly further range shots.

I used the Trijicon on the US rifles in the past but didn't find them very effective and prefer the Elcan over them. They are nice but still limit view in comparison to my HWS.

I will have to try and see if I can get a look at one of the Leupold's.

I like to keep both eyes open when shooting and I am not really looking for magnification just something to quickly aid in getting rounds on target accurately when transition shooting, mostly below 200 yrds.

I am surprised that there are not more sight producers making something like this.
 
The Elcan is a piece of sh*t. The glass is great, the mount is crap, as is the field of view.

All folding irons will work with an EoTech provided you're not running it on some kind of unnecessary riser.

The Trijicons in use by the US MIL are NOT the accupoints. The US MIL(Marines mostly) run ACOGS which are fixed magnification much like the Elcan. The Accupoint line offers true 1x or "zero magnification" with the option to zoom infinitely up to 4x. With either Trijicon line, both eyes open is very much practical and doable.

As mentioned, the Aimpoint series has a ridiculous battery life and an unmatched reliability record, hence their lack of dual or battery free models.
