Hydrodipped Woodgrain Texture

Hi All,
I've been looking at various picture threads of AKs and really like the wood furntiture. I was thinking of getting the Zhukov handguard and the rest of the polymer furniture on my VZ58 dipped with a wood grain texture. Anyone out there have this done or been pondering about it as well? Or would it be a faux pas/tacky?

I think that would make your gun look like a woody wagon, or a piece of IKEA furniture lol.... Can't substitute the real thing IMO.

Someone here had a beaver barf stock set wrapped in vinyl wood grain... Not too pretty.

Previous owner of my 11.8" had the hand-guards wrapped in vinyl. I left it on - doesn't look to bad to me, and beats paying 200 for the wood. I agree, nothing beats the actual wood ones, but shag shelling out that much for them.

The heat from some heavy-round sessions has the vinyl of the top one starting to loose it's adhesive, so I'll be looking at getting them dipped next trip home. I'll let you know how it turns out!

If you spray at least 2 coats of high gloss the a coat of matt over the dip, it will give the grain a look of depth. From across the table it would look fine.
