I am hoping for a new target gun

This !!! what I was looking for.
At my airgun forums we had several discussion regards of BC (ballistic coefficiency) of most popular pellets and slugs. The mainstream is moving towards slugs and people just ignore the mathematics... up to 100 meters the pellets are still more precise POI in contrast to slugs...slugs remain in speed for longer ranges but measurable only after some 150 to 200 or 250 meters. Ppl want to shoot slugs but have no room to shot them, that is where a nonsense comes to play.
We cannot dismiss the effects of elements, to cut on wind the mass must be higher propelled with more juice.
Thanks,

.223 is a centerfire cartridge. Same projectile diameter (ever so slightly larger) as .22lr, however significantly greater charge and a heavier projectile. Essentially the same cartridge that your buddies 5.56x45NATO barrel is chambered for; you can safely discharge .223 in a 5.56 barrel.

I need to have a closer look what have been done with that barrel project and how much more cash needed to fire the first shot @ 200

Yes, I would need a chassissomething like these.
A friend of mine made couple furniture stocks on he's CNC and if I could recall correctly I have seen some from aluminum as well. Somewhere mid next week I am going for pickup.

Edit:
In subforums here at CGN I shall search maybe someone selling aluminum chassis?

I think I'd want to know more about the chambering but admittedly, it's been years since I read about what the differences between 5.56 and .223. I've loaded for/owned a .223 in the past and am now set-up to load 3 other calibers. (just not .223 currently) Whether buying or loading ammo, I don't see you needing more than a .223 for the distances described. You might want to consider the best bullets to get you out to 400 accurately, they likely won't be in the 40gr-55 range, more likely 60gr and over-which makes the barrel twist a factor. I might also add, quality guns like Tikkas tend to shoot exceptionally well out of the box, and a trigger upgrade (spring only) is very quick, and inexpensive. I would suggest buying/shooting a stock Tikka before deciding it "needs" a chassis, but your gun/your $.

If accuracy is really your gig, I'd suggest setting-up to reload vs buying a chassis. (if you don't reload already?) It'll probably have a bigger impact on your downrange results than a stock will...unless the stock fit is no good for you.

...If accuracy is really your gig...

Thanks, but reloading is an other extra hobby I have no interest expanding, I have way too many hobbies in front of me...as a semi retired this year so far I could not claim two days the same.
This barrel project - the .223 - or Nato 5.56 just surfaced recently from a friend of mine as an alternative to me buying one other airgun for 100 meters BR....attempting but I still have not decided to hump on it.

My last post was still winter, since the snow melted I started shooting again, in meantime I shot probably a 1500 pellets.
I saw that 223 barrel at friends place, it is some aged style cannot even mount a picatinny. Also visited he's friend a custom rifle builder, he would sell me a custom built 308 but the stock I would most likely just throw away.
Trying to be smart now and speculating.
Where can I buy a 6.5CM heavy barrel (with action and other necessary steel parts) , and a match grade metal chassis is on me?
Way to many internet sources I don't understand, also if you would build one nice target rifle from scratch where would you start looking?
