I am looking for a specific hunting rifle with these specs:

Kano

CGN frequent flyer
Rating - 100%
34   0   0
Location
Medicine Hat, AB
I know this product exists somewhere, but what are my options for a .308 bolt gun that

must take ar10 mags
must have threaded barrel
should have iron sights
a mauser action would be awesome though not a must have

I think a CZ 550 series or Tikkas had what I was looking for but I haven bought a rifle like this before and I dont know whats out there or where to look.

Mossberg mvp patrol, or mossberg mvp scout

Scout has good irons, takes ar10 mags, threaded barrel. Not a Mauser action though.

Not a mossberg rifle guy at all, but I tried a scout once and immediately bought one, it’s accurate and very handy rifle with its 16” barrel.

MVP Patrol is HEAVY
Good gun though

Edit; its actually lighter than the Ruger.

6.7 vs 7.1

Another vote for the Ruger scout. Personally it’s a quality thing but if the budget dictates find a Savage scout 110. Basically the same thing just a little clunkier.

I wouldn’t usually push anyone to a Mossberg rifle because I’ve just seen too many inconsistencies in their production, some rifles are great, others are lemons, at random.

It must be psycological, I swear its the heaviest gun I have.
Could be, I tried a friends mvp scout and immediately bought one. I like that it takes the m14 and ar10 mags, and I prefer its aperture sight over the patrols open sight, but that’s just my preference, ymmv. Optic mounting is pretty straight forward with the long rail, can mount virtually anything you want. The extended bolt handle makes cycling the action slick as $hit.

Accuracy wise, I can’t claim it’s a moa gun, I’ve only shot mine with factory hunting ammo, and a lower powered scout scope that’s not conductive to Tiny groups but I think calling it a routine 2moa rifle isn’t gonna twist anyone’s pants, which is more than reasonable for 400m shots on steel and game.

Tenda has the mossberg in stock for 999$ (with a vortex 2-7 scout scope and rings), whereas the bare ruger is 1699 (out of stock) from the same retailer. In stock retailers seem to hover between 1799 and 1999, so if you compared either without the optics, I’m sure the mossberg comes in at half the price, or close to half, the ruger.

Any CZ is a quality piece, but in my opinion the cherrys are the full wood hogsback Turkish Walnut classics .
Might be your looking for an AR bolt type with modern modular bolt on sights , mags , accessories etc .
