I am the proud owner of a Pietta Millennium 1873 SAA chambered in .357 magnum. First off, let me say that this gun was the best deal yet! It was unfired, and I got it off the EE for $300 shipped. I own two Norincos, and the value for money here is even higher than my 1911 and Sig copy. The finish is a matte black paint - it seems alot like parkerizing. The fit is superb. I have played with a few Peacemakers, and this one functions perfectly. It locks up nice and tight, and in half ####, the cylinder rolls smoothly. I thought that the brass grip frame and trigger guard would not be great, but its nicer than the pictures. The handle is also quite pretty - a nice stained cherry look. I do plan to sand it down and put on a high gloss black paint to give it the look of buffalo horn - we will see how that goes. The SAA is in my mind the granddaddy of all modern production guns (and for you annoying ones, I am well aware that there were pistols before the SAA). It is pretty neat that 138 years later, the original design of the gun is basically the same, and is still as fun to shoot now as it was then. For those of you that have never handled a Peacemaker you really should, unless you really don't want to buy another gun...

Congrats Mykhaylo! I saw that one for sale, and that was a sweet deal. The matte with brass grip frame isn't my favorite finish for a SAA, to be honest, but that is a great quality piece for that money for sure. Enjoy - and I'm curious to see how those grips come out. . .

I just ordered the Gen2 1873 with 5.5" bbl in .45LC.... -I wanted the brass accents and the case hardened finish. I wanted the .357, but it is not avail in Gen 2 with the brass and case hardened finish... Bummer! Now I have to start reloading another caliber and those derned .452" boolits git expensive! Factory rolled ammo runs about $60.00 per box plus 15% HST, so handrolling is the only way to go.
I can't wait to make it go boom!

How is the fit and finish on yours?

I really like the old style peacemaker so I bought a Uberti "Antique Finish" .45 Colt 5.5 inch barrel. Looks old but is new... I have reloaded some black powder rounds for it (see picture) but find that it gets messy fast so I am loading smokeless rounds for it to extend shooting time between clean-ups.
Mykhaylo I think you are going to like shooting your new gun and yes you did get a good deal.

I've got a Pietta 357 with a 5.5" bbl. Great gun, but is it ever heavy!
Are Colt SAA's as heavy?

The .357 version is a little heavier than the "proper" big bore versions which would be in .44-40 or .45Colt since the bore is smaller so there is more metal in the cylinder and barrel. But really, we're only talking about a couple of ounces. And yes, the true Colt is the same weight, or near enough, as the Italian copies.

If you think it's overly heavy you must be one of the mambie pamby plastic gun sort of guys.... :D
