I went south to Toronto (Iknow I know) this weekend with my wife. On the way back north today I stopped at Epps in Orillia (hard to drive by) and decided to have a look at some .40 S&W pistolas as I have never owned anything in .40 and I recently aquired 1200 pieces of once fire .40 S&W brass. To make a long story short I walked into Epps for a look and came out owning a new S&W M&P40, 2 extra mags, holster, die set and conversion kit for my 550 and 100 rounds of Rem 180gr JHP:). I`m weak but I do believe I`ll be having some fun in the next few weeks. Sorry but I had to tell some one.:D

PS Anyone have any good loads using cast bullets

The M&P 40 is a great gun. Handles well and very reliable. It loves 180JHP and will give you lots of fun on the range.

I know what you mean about being weak - I've had to start leaving my wallet in the truck whenever I go in "just to have a look".

I load the 180 SWC with 4.5 to 5.5 gr of 7625. This powder meters very well and makes good mid-range ammo. Not good for hot ammo. For that you want something like HS6, Herco or WAP.

Until your pistol breaks in, I would load 6 gr of 7625 (available form Higgonson) and then start dropping down until you get the best group.

One of my 40s is best at 4.5 but the other won't function well at that power, so I compromise at 5.5

Your wife deserves a good ........ time ;) for letting this purchase happen. :D

2.8 Gr of Titegroup under 180 gr Lead bullets makes minor PF for IPSC and PF for IDPA SSP/ESP. Load is very accurate in my Tanfoglio and is inexpensive.

I have the M&P 9MM and love it. Grip works for me. Recoil is heavier than my Tanfoglio/CZ Shadow being a lighter gun but still very manageable. IF you shoot either IPSC or IDPA try installing Dawson Precision FO front sight. I found the sight is fast to acquire.

Take Care

Bob

If someone go inside a gunstore and didn't bought anything, he/she is weak. You are strong at both mind set and the pocket. Big congrats brother.

Haha, I was gonna say something along those lines. With regards to loads, when I was using 175gr. SWC, I would back'em up with 4.6gr. Bullseye. Worked great!

My wife wasn't going to object as we had just an hour earlier left IKEA with the final touchs of her new kitchen reno. As for the "good time" lets just say times are good.

Lately, I have been using 4.0 gr. of Bullseye in my Glocks with a 180 gr. plated bullet, very accurate and works the gun.

Hey, I need you to phone MY wife,,,,,, I've been picking up 20 ga. hulls for 2 years now I'm trying to convince her that because I have all these empty's now that it's only right I buy the gun to go with em.
