This isn't too huge a deal, right? The damn thing likes to fall out all the time. I was cleaning my rifle and it popped out, I wasn't really paying attention and it got caught under another structure next to my work bench when I went to lay the rifle back on the bench so I could grab the tube. I didn't kink, just a slight bend that I've mostly fixed by bending it back. IMO this isn't a big deal but I'm far from an expert when it comes to guns. The upside to this is the slight bend that remains holds the thing in the magazine and locked into place. The rifle in question is a Winchester 9422.

As long as cartridges don't lodge in the tube, no problem. I have seen folks deliberately bend the tube slightly, so that it won't be accidentally lost.

i've used a piece of welding rod just slightly under the the diameter of the tube to straighten it right out, but that involves taking the tube assy apart- oh the stuff i've used welding rod for other than welding

If you do need to straighten it, first remove the mag spring, follower, etc. from the tube. Then tightly fill the tube with a very fine sand. This will make it solid and less prone to kinking, and then just gentle bend it back. You could also lay it on a flat object ( like a table top ) to ensure you don't overdue it.
