I was resizing some .358 Norma Mag Brass using a Lee Hand Press and I managed to somehow bend the depriming pin. Can I just bend it back straight or do I have to send it away to get fixed? If it's not perfectly centred, it probably won't line very well with the flash hole.

Opinions please.

Thanks,

just bend it back with a pliars so that it will work .I've never had one break yet but there is always a first time.About half my pins have been working
a bit bent for years.Good thing to have is a lee decapping die handy ,then if one breaks off completly you won't be stuck.

I did the same thing only I bent the shaft on my 375H&H die last week.RWS brass, one did not have the primer hole drilled our.DAN>>>

My depriming thingers came with spare pins, check around the boxes for a bag of spare parts or something.

Worst case you could try bending it back, but it is likley hard and brittle metel. I'd try using a small hammer if possible rather than a set of pliers.

I broke the shaft on one of my de-primers... I tried bending it back with pliers and it snapped.

Bend it back with pliers. Then fiddle with it to get the pin to go into an already deprimed case. Then tighten the decapping stem while it is still in the flash hole. This way it will be lined up.

If disaster strikes, remember you can take the decapping pin out of a smaller caliber and use that. Buy a spare or two.

yup, straighten her out if she breaks or doesn't ork order a few spares there like $2.50 or somehting im thinking about ordering some just in case....

You can cut the head off a finishing nail and use that as a substitute until you get the proper pins.

Yes, I've done that successfully too. Cut the head and and the point off, file the ends square and there you go. Also, you can use small broken drill bits of the correct size and grind the ends square (don't just throw them out!!). There is nothing magical about decapping pins :D
