Just as cheap to feed if you reload, and the 'pop' factor when you hit a gopher is a lot more 22-250-like than an HMR.

Actually, milsurp 7.62x39 is also cheap-like-borscht, so if you can find an accurate carbine, it ought to be good. Trajectory should be a bit better than HMR, and even in FMJ's it inspires gopher acrobatics. Remington's coming out with a mini-mauser action in this cal that should be good.

That said, an HMR IS a lot of fun.

The HMR is a blast to shoot. Little recoil, flat trajectory, very accurate. But at $100+ for a brick it gets quite pricey.
