I got this Glock 19 off another site. I have never owned one before but I promised myself if a 19 came up in excellent condition I would buy it.

What am I in for regarding accuracy? I guess it's not a bullseye gun.:D

Get a bunch of different cartridges from different manufacturers with different bullet weights .Sandbag rest test it at 20 yds. Any gun can shoot well at 7 yards if the guy holding it knows how to point.... Lock and load with the ammo that has given you the best group(s). Don't test everything the same day and don't rapid fire the h... out of it so that your barrel overheats. You can't shoot cast bullets (so they say) out of a Glock and that's too bad cause you can sometimes really find the "sweet" spot when you can tune your loads and bullet weights with cast projectiles (cheaper too !)

Congrats on the new pistol! A new sidearm gives you that warm fuzzy feeling! ;) Lol Now I hope you will post some pics after a day at the range so the rest of us who want a Glock can see the 20yrd factor. Hint Hint Enjoy your new Glock!

Only if I shoot some good groups!

Let the flaming begin... I've got asbestos underwear!

Regards,

Here is my opinion on Glocks;

-There is no esthetic lure
-They are known to be accurate
-If I had to carry a gun all day I would choose a Glock
-I have never looked at one and said, "I MUST get one."
-I expect it to fire when I pull the trigger

And finally, "I really should try one out before I venture an opinion."

So now I will!

Ah, they're as accurate as any other handgun in a similar vein. No more, no less.

But they're just plain fun to shoot. And very reliable. Just don't use lead bullets in your factory barrel (you can get away with using a few, just scrub ALL the lead out of the bbl later).

Take the slide off the frame, then hoist the frame alone, in your hand. You won't believe how light it is. Most of the weight of the gun is the slide and bbl.

now your stuck with reliability, durability, accuracy and a parts and service availability second to none.....welcome to the dark side:cool:

the only gun I like more than a Glock is a beretta 92FS.
My glock ( 17) is very accurate, and dependable.
the only down side is that a Glock is its like a Remington 700, in that you have to add after-market parts to it to make it awesome.

Welcome to the Glock owners side of things. Im sure you wont be disappointed.

prproulx,

That's exactly like the one I have...it's a beautiful gun. It was my first Glock as well ;)

I find mine to be satisfyingly accurate, at least as much so as my Belgian BHP. Glad to see you got the original factory Tupperware case and tools with yours - I think those cases are great!

Have fun with it. :)

Best wishes, Jeff.

My first Glock was a G19 as well back in the middle 80's I sold it when the capacity of mag's was lowered to 10 and along with it went my grandfather rights. :(

Since then I have had other handguns but when I wanted to buy a semi-auto for my ATC (authorization to carry) I purchased a G20 10mm for it's reliablity and last week a new G23 with an extended Barsto barrel followed me home from Reliable via Questar to be used as my CCW gun when I am in the States.

You made a good choice...

There hit and miss I shot my G17 gen 3 and it shoots pretty good " 3" at 25 yrds but my friends G17 gen 1 which I shot aswell gave me a 5" group at 25 yrds:( sucks to be him I guess lol
