Help.

Lately firing 22lr from Remington, I am averaging 20% misfire.

Any one there having the same problem, if yes what are you doing.

What ammo are you using.

I tried winchester target , wildcat, Federal target not Better, It seems only CCI is helping.

Any input will greatly be appreciated.

I go through thousands of American Eagle .22 lr (made by Federal) per year and have very few duds. I also never had many problems with the Federal bulk packs (525 or 550 rounds) sold at Wal-Mart.

After 100 rounds of 22lr my gun get cleaned and oiled.

Does it make a difference if it is a pistol or a rifle.

It makes all the difference in the world!
Different firearms don't always digest all makes of ammo.
.22 pistols are real finicky about what brand you shoot, more so than rifles.

Would you Remington be a 597? One of the poorest performing rifles Reminton has ever produced, maybe, just maybe the worst ever. Perhaps many of the 597 users on Rimfire central can tell you what the trouble with your rifle is. FS

I go through a federal value pack (550 rounds) every two weeks for the past five months or so. Never (and I really mean never) had one misfire. I always clean my 41 after every use. Have not tried remington ammo.

I've had lots of problems with remingtons bulk packs. The last time I used them 1-10 wouldn't fire. This was out of 4 different guns as well.

I pulled the bullets when I got home to find there was no priming material in the case, just powder.

Honestly though the S&W 41 is a fine pistol. It deserves better than the cheap stuff. It doesnt cost much more for quality target ammo and you'll find the gun shoots more accurate with them.

If you do shoot cheap stuff I've had good luck with anything federal.

I believe your Mod 41 needs a good check over with a good gunsmith. Great gun by the way.
There is no way you could get that many misfires with the selection of ammo used.

I shoot an older Hi-Standard Citation for "bullseye", and I've always fed it Federal match 711B. The last case I bought was pathetic. I had at least one sometimes 2 misfires in every 30 round gallery. I ended up giving the last two bricks away.
I have since been using Eley Target pistol ammo. My scores have improved, and I no longer have misfires. I have used about 2500 rounds so far and have only 2 FTF's.
The little bit higher cost is definitely worth it for me.

I have been having alot of misfires from remington cyclones. It really sucks because my .22 likes them the best so it makes it frustrating. I bought a bunch of new stuff I havent tried yet, but never got a chance to use them the last time I was out.

i've always found the dynapoints to be the best line of winchester ammo, followed by federal bulk packs- xperts and wildcats were the some of the worst, and the aquila or whatever it's called that comes from s.america, and the filipino absolutely terrible- but to come out and say no more 22 ammo for me, it's just plain silly in a world that still has varmints and tin cans
i'm also of the opinion that 22 ammo can go "stale" after a while and that's why it doesn't always fire- typically, if you rotate so the pin hits the rim in a diffeent spot, she fires- i've proved this time and again at the range

I switched over to Federal ammo for this same reason. I used to get at least 2 FTF out of every 50, doesn't sound like much, but it can be a piss-off.
Never looked back.
