I did it again.. eek ..bought a CZ-858-2 Tactical -=PICS ADDED=-!

Salut PP,

Is there a mechanical reason why the mag of the CZ858 should not touch the ground (e.g. jams..) or is it a general marksmanship rule ?

When it touches ground occasionally, it does change the recoil vector of the rifle without you noticing and throws your rounds differently than when you sighted it in.
If you're used to always shoot with the mag as an improvised monopod, this can be different.
BTW, I just noticed the Czech equipped their front sight with an eccentric post :) so you can make very minute adjustments to windage without resorting to the sight pusher. All it takes is the tool that is furnished with the kit and you can shift the post left or right in a mere half-turn without affecting elevation.

PP your post did was enlightening
but most people shoot service rifle with the mag on the ground for more stablity
I vastly prefer my elbows on the ground or resting on my knees when sitting. When shooting a lot sitting on the ground, I adjust my sling just a bit longer and put my left leg in the loop. With the elbow resting on the knee, it is just snug enough to stabilize the rifle.
