I spent some time this past winter and early spring reading about painting rifles, asking some questions, looking at pics, and getting supplies. Today I finally painted my remington 700 .25-06. It started by purchasing the barreled action, then the wildcat composites stock. I had to do some work to fit the stock, bed it, adjust for length of pull and install recoil pad. Most of this work was first time for me. I had some issues, and there are a few flaws here and there but I learned alot and enjoyed doing it. Here is a before paint pic.

Here is the after paint pic.

Now I have to wait till she's dry, put the scope on and see if she shoots!

What do you think of the stock? How much time and effort did you have to spend getting it to fit and prepping it for paint?

The stock seems good, it's sure light only about 21 or 22 oz. There is no slot cut for the bolt so the stock could be used right or left hand. I had to drill and tap holes for sling swivel's, there is aluminum blocks to thread. Length of pull was a touch long for me with the limbsaver pad so I cut that down and installed the pad. I had to open the barrel channel up, and by accident I went too far at the end and got into the foam, had to repair that with bedding compound. I had a few little issues like that, but it was my first time, and with a little accraglass and some time I could repair any boo boo's I made. Probably got about 10 hours into it with some of my repairs and sanding, should take a professional 3 or 4 I would guess.

I happy how it turned out, but I haven't shot it yet, maybe tonight.

Whew; when I saw your post, I was afraid it was the M57 Turkish that got painted ;)

She's next!

Here's my sight in target, 100yds win factory 100gr. Definately shows promise, I'm quite happy. Will have to start some load developement, that should take another 6 months.
