I've been waiting impatiently for the Boito 14 inch, 12 gauge Coach Guns to go on sale somewhere.

I saw a used one going for $475 on a B.C. dealer's site recently and passed on it. I'm glad that I did.

On Tuesday, I noticed that Tillsonburg is having a 15% off sale for Father's Day and is selling them for $549.

I finally got one! I'd love to hear what any existing owners think of them. I think they'd make a great camp gun.

FYI, all their other Boito's and Stoegers are on sale too.

I have a 12" double barrel and am wanting for those extra 2" as the action won't just open under its weight. It's a pain in the ass to open and clear. Ideally ejectors are the way to go, but if relying on extractors, the barrels had best open one handed.

let us know how yours runs. and how well regulated the barrels are.

Are they choked btw?

If you're planning on shooting slugs during camp duty, I recommend shooting groups at your intended shooting range to see where the POI is with respect to the POA.

Do it separately for each barrel to test how the barrels are regulated.

Oh yeah, if it has double triggers NEVER fire both barrels at the same time...........

Fukk, there goes another $650.

These sales threads kill me.

Ordered a 12g Supreme with chokes

No, they're cylinder bore and smooth.

I haven't received it yet, and it may be some time before I get a chance to shoot it, but I'll let you know when I do.

FWIW, I'm not expecting precision regulation. They're built strong though, so I expect a rugged and reliable shotgun.

Thanks! Will do!

I've never shot a SxS, so it will be interesting to see how this gun patterns at close and long range.

I've found in the past with my pumps that practicing with #6 or #7.5 birdshot is a lot cheaper and easier to manage during long shooting sessions.

I've read somewhere that the recoil energy generated from a 3/4" 12 gauge slug is equivalent to that of a .375 H&H Magnum.

I've never shot a .375 H&H, but I tend to avoid shooting very many slugs during a range session.

From my old poll regarding the Dominion Arms Outlaw.

It shows how the right barrel is on and the left barrel shoots high and to the left.

I finally got out and tested my Outlaw. I am satisfied with the shotgun. it won't replace my HP9-1 pump but for a fun short range blaster it'll do the job.

The only upgrade will be a higher bead as my Outlaw shoots high as do most of the others tested so far. The length of pull seems fine to me and I won't be changing it.

The felt recoil was very mild and controllable except when shooting off the bench.

I did not get any trigger bite. I did not try to fire both barrels at the same time.

The forend was very tight prior to test firing. After 5 shots it developed a slight rattle but did not fall off and functioned properly.

Here is my photo proving ownership.

All shells used in this range report were 2 3/4".

I first shot at a blank piece of paper at 40 yards with Federal Upland Game # 6. The left barrel was printing left and high while the right barrel printed on but slightly high.

I then shot a Lockhart style 30" target with the Federal #6 at 40 yards. I don't have a large piece of plexiglass to make up a propoer Lockhart gauge but based on the results, i won't be hunting with the Outlaw at 40 yards.

The left barrel:

The right barrel:

I then moved in to 25 yards and shot some WIN H/P 1600 fps slugs. POA was a 6 o'clock hold on the black circle of each target. The right barrel printed high 4-6" high and on line. The left barrel printed 7" high and 7" left. Clearly only the right barrel with a higher bead is slug viable at this range.

On the same 25 yard target I then shot a round of Fed 9 pellet OO buck, standard velocity. The pellets are marked in green. The right barrel would do the job of a coachgun at 25 yards with this load. The left barrel was way off and essentially useless at this range.

The next image shows buckshot performance of the right and left barrels with Fed OO buckshot at more realistic combat ranges of 15 and 5 yards.

The right barrel is highlighted in red and the left barrel in green.

POA is the centre of each target.

The right barrel at 15 and 5 yards is fine with OO buck. The left barrel at 15 yards is touch and go but at 5 yards it'll do the job.

I am going to drill and tap a higher more visible bead. I may install a second bead on the left side of the rib to see if that'll get the poorly regulated left barrel to print closer to the POA.

There were 2 older members of my club at the range. Longtime hunters and rifle target shooters. They immediately asked me if it was legal. I told them that it was non-restricted, that you could even hunt with it in BC and that I bought it to piss off Lieberals. They both broke into smiles and then burned off half a box of my ammo trying it out.

I do all the time, heavy buck and slugs. Why not? It wasn't a prohibition in any of the literature I read. I'm not challenging you, just wanna know if I'm doing something inherently dangerous.

That's an excellent post and thread, Geólogo!

Thanks for posting them!

I hope that my gun is better regulated than your Outlaw.

We shall see.

BTW, nice collection of bush guns!

Shoot now I need to get one

I just checked their site, they're still on sale and there's 12 of them left.

I received it on Tuesday and briefly put it together yesterday morning. I should have taken a picture of it, it's really cool and quite maneuverable in tight quarters.

Man, was it ever tight though. It was a PITA to open the action at first. Definitely no wobble or gaps anywhere.

I had a hell of a time getting the fore-end off when I took it apart to place back into the box again.

Maybe that will improve after I give it a thorough cleaning with WD-40 and lube it with Break-Free.

It's going to be awhile before I can fully clean it up and pattern it, but it should be fun when I can!

FWIW, Boito really packs these guns well. They're coated in grease and wrapped in moisture-resistant paper.

Remington and Mossberg should be taking notes.

My only complaint is the smell of the packing grease that they use. I had to put it back into it's case until I can clean it properly because it reeks so much.

I could literally smell it in the next room.
