I finally picked up a 14 inch Coach Gun

Geólogo, where did you get your shotgun patterning targets?

I owned one of these 14” guys and man are they loud compared to the 20” model I also own. Ended up selling the 14”er too loud even for emergency situations for me.

lol on the bad for your fingers and also hearing protection required

having just spent time setting up a 18.5" plus 1" of extended choke (non-ported) so 19.5" and running those challenger magnum 2 3/4" slugs....yup, you will want to only hit one of those triggers at a time and you're ears will be ringing for sure! and make sure it's in your shoulder when you pull a trigger, wouldn't try and hip shoot that or one hand it

on a 7 lb 940 pro turkey 18.5" and challenger slugs quick math shows recoil energy in the 33-37 ft/lbs range, not sure I'd wanna run those slugs through one of them little guns although they are apparently even better than brenekke for penetration defence work...running math on a 10.5 lb 300 Weatherby with 180's at 3100 fps would translate to 29 ft/lbs recoil energy so yeah maybe similar to a 375hh or more on recoil range? those 504 gr slugs rated at 1610 fps (guessing 30" barrel), should be about 1500-1535 fps out of my 19.5" and someone said they do 1450 out of a 14.5" barrel....it will be a handful in any shotgun never mind a little gaffer like that

My buddy has one. Surprisingly well built. Although evident it's built to a price not to a level. His is quite well regulated and shoots flat. Definitely loud when firing close to buildings. Quite hefty for the length. If I didn't have a fondness for better handling guns I'd buy one

I'll probably just stick to buckshot.

I have more shells of them than slugs anyways.

That's good to hear!

I've seen pictures of doubles that look like they were built by a meticulous German gunsmith/machinist.

Boito's aren't in the same league for finishing, but they do seem very well built and mine locks up really tight.

I have to get it out to the range. I'm going nuts not testing my new additions to my collection.

They're what I'd call crude and handle kinda like a 2x6. That's the entire stoeger doubles line not just the shorty. I was able to break clays with ease with my buddies. It is still stiff. Gets your attention with 3" turkey loads. Some nice muzzle flashes as well. Side by side with his sulun 211 ou the bioto is the better gun in my opinion

Thanks again for the info!

I'm not expecting finesse from it, just rugged reliability. Based on your testimonial, it sounds like it has those qualities.

I must admit though, it would be fun to get really good on it, then go and shoot skeet or trap with it.

If for nothing else, just to piss off the people with the super expensive O/U's.
