Earlier this year I asked for opinions on what scope to put on one of my 1895 Marlin's. I never really liked the idea of scoping any levergun all that much, but both of my 45/70's were starting to bore me a bit. So for a change I thought I might throw a scope on one just to change things up a bit and maybe revive my interest.

Amphibious had stated how much he loved the look of a scope on a lever gun and really encouraged me to go for it. I think he even said he wanted one on his 450. I put on a Leupold 1-4x20, the new rings will be on it tomorow as the ones on it are too tall.

I took a pic for ya while I was out today Phib :D I know you will love it!

Just dont ask me to buy it, I kind of actually like it . I never thought I would, but the darn thing actually shoots not bad either and feels very comfortable when shooting.

Dont worry, I wont be turning me guide gun into an ugly duckling anytime soon :D. One ugly rifle wont bring down the value of my others too much , will it? :runaway: ;) :D

I would have taken some pics of my targets when I was done, but it started pissing rain on me not long after I started getting decent groups. The powers above are pissed at me for what I have done

What is the shiney thingy on the side of the buttstock?

.

My wife bought the rifle for me a few years back, she had the plate made with my initials on it so that I wouldnt forget I think ;)

I also think she thought this way I couldnt sell this one

:)

 , So whats it shoot like, it must shoot well setup like that, great brush rig :)

I will do a range report in a few days now that I put the new rings on today.

Hopefully next time I am not getting rained on when shooting. I guess I should just head to the range, I cant stand doing that now that I can be hunting though.

in my crazy dense brush country, I always wondered how a scout scope would work on such a rifle. I've put a scout Intermediate Eye Relief scope on my bolt .308 and it really works well and fast at the <300 metre ranges. Perhaps one for my guide gun as well?
